Our Approach
Empowering clients to make educated financial decisions
We take a different approach to wealth management. One that involves understanding your financial goals, motivation, and how you picture your legacy. Our goals-based, holistic approach enables us to find appropriate financial strategies that are tailored to your unique, ever-changing situation.
Brian began his investment industry career in 2000 and joined Stifel in 2012 as a First Vice President/Investments. With more than 20 years of experience in the investment industry, Brian is well versed in creating and implementing equity and fixed income investment strategies. He works with a wide range of investors – from high-net-worth individuals to business owners to young investors who are just starting to develop their financial picture.
He assists clients in understanding where they are today, what will be required for retirement, and what they’ll need to do between now and then. This includes a comprehensive review of his clients’ savings, investments, Social Security, long-term care expenses, cost of living, and Medicare needs. Through the Stifel Solutions Program, Brian offers personalized, discretionary portfolio management to a select group of clients.
Brian earned a B.S.B.A. from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and holds Series 7 and 66 securities licenses, as well as life, health, and variable insurance licenses (including annuities). In addition, he has earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor℠ designation. Outside the office, he enjoys playing soccer and basketball, as well as attending his children’s sporting events. He lives with his wife and four children in Pittsburgh.
The Stifel Solutions Program requires a minimum investment, which varies by strategy. Ask your Financial Advisor for a Disclosure Brochure, which further outlines the fees, services, exclusions, and disclosures associated with this program. Since all investment decisions in a Solutions account are made by the Financial Advisor without having to receive prior client approval, it is paramount that Solutions clients have detailed knowledge of the Financial Advisor’s individual investment philosophy and decision-making process before entrusting him or her with their portfolio. You should consider all terms and conditions before deciding whether the Solutions Program and any particular strategy are appropriate for your needs.
Herman began his financial services career in 1976 with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith. He took great pride in hanging his jacket on the same office door every day for 36 years as he cultivated relationships with clients who later became friends.
After the merger of Merrill Lynch and Bank of America, Herman decided to pick up his jacket and move down the road to Morgan Stanley in 2012. In 2022, he joined Stifel, where he continues his career of service to clients with his sons, Brian and Jon.
Herman works closely with clients, communicating complex retirement strategies in a way that is both understandable and meaningful. He earned the Certified Financial Planner™ certification in 1982 and the Certified Investment Management Analyst® designation from the Investments & Wealth Institute after completing coursework at University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in 1996. In addition, he holds Series 7, 15, 63, and 65 securities licenses.
Herman’s dedication to service extends to his community, where he served as an instructor at Dale Carnegie from 1982 to 1992, President of the Bethel St. Clair Rotary Club from 2010 to 2011, and District Governor of Rotary District 7300 and 1415. He currently resides in Upper St. Clair with his wife, Kay, and in his free time enjoys reading, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jonathan H. Dieckmann, CIMA
First Vice President/Investments; Senior Portfolio Manager - Solutions Program
Jon discovered throughout his career that most clients do not just hire him to help them manage their portfolios, but to help reduce the potential anxiety tied to investing and retirement planning. Jon seeks to accomplish this through a disciplined approach that involves prioritizing clients’ goals, helping them make informed financial decisions, and managing their expectations. Through this process, his clients have the opportunity to feel confident as they navigate life’s important milestones.

Our Philosophy
We do not approach situations with pre-determined agendas. Each client is approached with a one-on-one process. We will discuss individual recommendations specific to your needs and circumstances, then we periodically review with you the situation to find out what we can do to assist you and where we can add value.
Clients can expect a high level of responsiveness and concierge-like service. We will meet with you throughout the year as many times as needed. Some clients prefer speaking monthly, some quarterly, and others yearly, whether in-person or by phone. During these meetings, we will review your current situation, discuss market expectations, and make any necessary investment adjustments.
